About the Socionomics Institute
Socionomics is the science of history and social prediction. It is field of study encompassing the origins and effects of an endogenous human social dynamic called the Wave Principle, a specific sequence of progress and regress that regulates the complex system of collective mood and social interaction. It examines and forecasts market and social trends on this basis: that the character of social, political, cultural, financial and economic trends are the product of collective human psychology, which is based upon an unconscious herding impulse deriving from pre-rational portions of the brain.
As a research and education center, the Socionomics Institute is dedicated to the advancement of the following tenets:
1. Social mood trends are patterned according to the Wave Principle.
2. Social mood governs the character of social events.
3. Aggregate stock market prices provide the best available register of social mood trends.
4. Trends in the character of social action and occasionally even specific social events are predictable in probabilistic terms.
These tenets challenge the conventional assumption that social "events" cause changes in social mood. This ubiquitous error precludes successful prediction of social trends and actions.
Socionomic Research
In conjunction with the
Socionomics Foundation, the Socionomic Institute encourages critical study of social behavior by engaging scholars and advanced students in researching the social sciences from a socionomic perspective. Socionomics is a trans-disciplinary field of study that crosses boundaries separating psychology, economics, sociology, biology and history.
Applied Socionomics
The Socionomics Institute promotes the practical application of socionomic analysis towards problem solving and forecasting across diverse areas of economics, politics, art, music, fashion, business, sports, media and other areas of popular culture. Practical applications also involve socionomic analysis of current news events in order to obtain a better understanding of how social mood governs social events.
Contributors and Benefactors
The Socionomics Institute and the
Socionomics Foundation exist because of the insightful ideas and writings
of an emerging cadre of individuals known as socionomists. Financial support
is provided by
Elliott Wave International, a technical analysis company that uses the
Wave Principle to forecast financial markets and socionomics to interpret
social activity.
Robert R. Prechter Jr. developed the Wave Principle into a popular method of market technical analysis and for creating the subject of socionomics.
